Best Week Ever: Owen Coyle

Posted by Chamo on August 26, 2009  •  Comments

Just like VH1, I like to recognize those having the Best Week Ever. Except when we hand out a best week ever award, it actually means that they did something worthwhile. This week’s winner of our Best Week Ever award goes to Burnley manager Owen Coyle. After a tough opening weekend loss to Stoke, the Clarets have managed three successive victories, two of which were over some of the Premiership’s elite class.

The victory over Manchester United was more than impressive, as a strong team performance coupled by some goalkeeping heroics gave the Burnley faithful their first top-flight victory in over 30 some-odd years. However, their good fortune did not end there, as they disposed of a mangled Everton side this past weekend with much more ease than should be expected from the scrappy Toffees.

Don’t look now but Coyle has his squad on a roll following his Best Week Ever. They had a brief stumble against Hartlepool in their Carling Cup match yesterday, yet managed to pull out the win in the end. This Saturday they have another stern test against Chelsea, but following their performances against United and Everton, one can only dream that the minnows of the league come out on top just one more time (of course this won’t happen, I don’t care what people say about occurrences happening in threes). Still, I applaud Mr. Coyle on his accomplishments, and he is officially having the Best Week Ever.
