The Soccer World Today

At Constantly Offside, we love bringing you the freshest soccer scoop and opinion. Often, we have it for you. However we read some pretty good blogs and articles, and enjoy hooking you up with what you need to know. Here is the scoop for the weekend.
A friend showed me some cool stuff earlier today, it's Visa's Financial Football. Basically it is an online soccer game that you play via using your financial knowledge. I'm a big fan of footie, video games, and personal finance, so I checked it out. It's relatively fun and brushes up your financial knowledge, letting you know how much or little you actually know about the financial world. Being a business major, I certainly pride myself on knowing what is going financially, and I used that acumen to beat Mexico. Cuz really, anytime you can do anything in your power to beat Mexico, it is well worth your time. You can brush up on your knowledge of the financial world and beat up on your favorite rival here. (Mexico, Italy, Germany among others on my list) The US even has a Jozy Altidore look alike up top, although I'm relatively sure it just worked out that way. You will understand when you play. Visa's goal is to help 20 million people world wide with financial literacy via football, which is pretty awesome.
Our friends over at TSG are doin work on the US Honduras TV situation. They have the latest news and an interview with one of the big players involved in negotiations for the rights to the game. Unfortunately it looks more and more like it is going to be shown on pay per view only and not on ESPN or any other major outlet. You can find a list of bars that are showing the game here as well as read more on the story. Big ups to TSG for doing the background investigative work that is keeping all the US fans informed on the situation, we appreciate it a ton.
Shout out to the Free Beer Movement, where they bought game tickets for US-Costa Rica today. All of you on the East Coast should do the same. Get to the game and help ensure the US is playing next summer by supporting our boys!
There is some spectacular soccer on TV this weekend, including the US U-20 squad. A full list of the best games on this weekend is over at Soccer by Ives, although you will have to dig into the list below to find game times. The US U20s play Saturday against Germany at 7am Pacific on ESPN classic and Galavision. Speaking of good soccer, get your EPL predictions in now for a spot to write a blurb on Constantly Offside!
SBI also has the scoop on the Jay DeMerit injury situation. It looks like he is going to have to have surgery on his eye, which is certainly problematic for a US defense that had looked to have settled into nice form. You can also read an oldie but a goodie about DeMerit and his incredible story here from Sports Illustrated.
Finally, I received my American Outlaws membership package a couple days ago, and I am rocking the shirt today. It is classy and comfortable. You can read my recap of why I joined The American Outlaws here.
I hope everyone has a great weekend of soccer.
