EPL Round 11 Predictions

Posted by Biggy and Chamo on October 29, 2009  •  Comments

We had a combined four correct results last week. That's 4/20, or a massive 20% correct. Even worse was that Biggy only contributed one of those four, leaving him as the worst performer of the year thus far. You readers barely out did us, with a three way tie for first as three of you managed to choose three correct results and one correct scoreline, which was still dismal, considering the results of past weeks. Time for redemption, especially if you are Biggy, at least there are 11 matches in this one.

Biggy:

It's official. I suck. One game right. One. I'd blabber, but I don't even deserve the space I'm currently writing in. So here goes.

Arsenal 2:1 Tottenham

Bolton 1:2 Chelsea

Burnley 0:0 Hull City

Everton 0:2 Aston Villa

Fulham 2:2 Liverpool

Portsmouth 1:3 Wigan

Stoke City 1:0 Wolves

Sunderland 2:1 West Ham

Man United 1:0 Blackburn

Birmingham 1:3 Man City

West Ham 1:2 Aston Villa

Yep, until I get at least 4 games right, I have lost the right to analyze, and until I get five right I have lost the right to blabber above my picks. Good thing there are 11 games this week ;)

Chamo:

I would moan around like Biggy, except I beat him, so I will gloat despite a still less than spectacular performance. I have never been so unhappy to see Drogba score, as he ruined my 4-0 prediction with his late header against Blackburn last week, but as a Chelsea fan, I'm happy to see them dominate like they did.

Arsenal 1:2 Tottenham This London derby is huge, especially as Spurs try to justify their claim that they can compete with the top four. Coming off a devastating home loss to Stoke, Spurs will be out with passion in their hearts and will steal all three at the Emirates behind a goal by Keane.

Bolton 0:3 Chelsea
They disposed of the Wanderers midweek at the Bridge and with a full squad they will be happy to repeat their performance on the road, but I can't see them reaching any more than three in this match.

Burnley 1:0 Hull City
Burnley's home record was disposed of by Wigan last week, but they will return to their impressive home form against a dismal and seemingly falling apart Hull City squad. Midweek squabble about Brown being fired has done nothing but add a cloud of uncertainty around the Tigers, and with their chairman resigning today, who knows what's in store.

Everton 1:1 Aston Villa
Everton have huge injury issues, Villa is consistently inconsistent. Everton's main issue lies in their lack of goals, while Villa seem to have no problem scoring, but fall apart from time to time. This ends in a draw, but I cannot explain any logical reason why.

Fulham 0:2 Liverpool
Liverpool needs to solidfy their results, but Fulham have everything necessary to provide issues for the Reds, as they have been impressive the past few weeks. Last week they had an impressive comeback against Manchester City and I have full faith they could surprise Liverpool with a similar result, but I'm running on instinct this week.

Portsmouth 1:2 Wigan
Wigan look good, too good really. They need to keep the ball out of their own net, but they seem to have no real issue finding it at the other end. Portsmouth on the other hand are terrible, there are no answers for Pompey at this point.

Stoke City 1:1 Wolves
Stoke did well to hold off Tottenham last week and steal a vital three points, Wolves did well to take a point from a tough match against Villa. I wouldn't go as far as to say Wolves are on a hot streak, but securing any kind of points against teams like Villa and Everton back to back is no small feat, but they can't get all three on the road here, a third successive draw is all they manage.

Sunderland 2:2 West Ham
West Ham doesn't deserve to be at the bottom of the table, which is why I believe not too many are calling for Zola's head yet. They have played well, have a decent squad, but just haven't got the results. Last week was the turning point with an essential comeback against rivals Arsenal. Sunderland weren't able to produce against Birminham last week, but have the advanage of being at home in this one.

Man United 3:1 Blackburn
United must bounce back after a demoralising loss to an inspired Liverpool side. What better way to do that than against the team that Chelsea stomped 5-0 last week. Rooney, Owen and Valencia all bag one.

Birmingham 1:2 Man City
City cannot be happy about dropping the ball against Fulham last week. After trouncing Peterborough 5-1 midweek, Birmingham become their next target. While not as convincing against a better opponent, City returns to their winning ways.

West Ham 2:1 Aston Villa
West Ham get those vital three points I've been predicting will occur the past some odd weeks and it comes agaisnt a side that will challenge for a spot in the top six. Cole scores both.
