Kenjo's 1st EPL Match Challenge

Posted by Kenjo on November 11, 2009  •  Comments

So I've been planning on heading to Madrid this December break and I want to make the most out of my $400 plane ticket and I'm going to have to stop by in London on the way so the deal is this:

I will be leaving for London on the 14th of December and will be staying for 3 days. I have a place to stay with a relative of mine in North London located about 10 minutes from White Hart Lane (Tot-Hot). This however doesn't limit me to only seeing a Spurs game.

So YOU TELL ME...Which game should I lose my EPL virginity with?

EPL London Schedule while I am there is thus:

Tot-Hot vs. Man City (Dec 16) - White Hart Lane
Chelsea vs. Portsmouth (Dec 16) - Stamford Bridge

I have no loyalties to any EPL team, but rather like watching great soccer and great players play so my dillema is due to this:

Man City has Robinho, one of my favorite players ever. Although his performance at Man City hasn't been up to par, I would really like to see him play. I haven't seen him play since 2005 when I saw him at the Vila Belmiro (Santos FC) in Brazil just before he left for Madrid. Shaun Wright-Phillips also has to be one of my favorite English players to watch too.

The Spurs also have had a great run so far in the league and with exception to the Arsenal game are an exciting team to watch this season. Also a (currently) 4th vs 5th match up would be really exciting to watch, although there is no knowing what positions these teams will be at, come mid-December.

Chelsea fields some of the best players in the world and seeing them play against Portsmouth (currently dead last in the EPL) has the promise of a lot of goals. Then again this 1st vs. last match up might make Ancelloti choose to field some of Chelsea's bench (still appealing considering their depth).

*Sorry to the other London team fans, but during these match days all other teams in the vicinity are away.

Post your arguments in the comment box below. (I might be able to guess what Chamo would say) Responses will be considered until the November 12th when I buy my plane tickets and my plans are finalized.

--Chamo Note: I dropped the ball and just found this email in my inbox, despite the November 12th deadline I felt it would be fun to hear the arguments anyway, especially since Biggy and I still haven't heard which game Kenj is going to.

Winner will receive either a shoutout in my game review/and U-tube video or a ConstantlyOffside.com t-shirt (they are currently in the works, they will be available sometime in January)

**Disclaimer: I will try my best to see the game the winner has selected; however, if the game is sold out I will have to try another match. If all are sold out then I will be very unfortunate...actually that will just really suck! But, at least I will be watching a Real Madrid vs. Zaragoza at the Bernabeu. Many will enter, one will win. The contest is open to all including Chamo and Biggy.

Dude, tot hot vs city for sure. If you're gonna see a game as a spectator, not a fan, I would say go for a couple of teams that are close in the table. plus the other choice is chelski... come on now.

I would make the train trip up to Liverpool. My brother and I were in London a few years back and were going to see Chelsea destroy West Brom (the Mourinho era before he started grinding out wins and played attractive footie). However, they were in the Carling Cup Final that weekend so we chose to see Man United vs. Portsmouth which was an entertaining game, but the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. If there's one thing I've always wanted to see it's the Kop singing You'll never walk alone, in person. And, I'm not even a Red's supporter.
