Keeping You Informed: USMNT Plus Some

Posted by Biggy on September 15, 2009  •  Comments

Start your Tuesday off with a blast of information that will keep you up to date on the lovely wide world of soccer. Some vital things to read and know after the break.

First to almost worst, peace out Rodrigo Kenton Costa Rica fires their manager with two games left in the group after they have slipped from group leaders to the playoff with South America in a span of only three games. Interesting to see how this will affect the rest of their qualifying, as they cannot lose again.

The only thing worse then a diver is a flip flopper It appears that UEFA has overturned their ban on Eduardo, making themselves look quite foolish in the process. Again. Really this was my biggest fear a couple of weeks ago, and standard ridiculousness from UEFA, not willing to take a stand.

Champions League group stage kicks off today. Check out Fox Soccer Channel at 11:45 am on the west coast to start catching some of the CL group stage. Cannot express my joy that this is back, CL soccer is some of the best in the world, especially deep into the knockouts. The early stages expose you to some teams and leagues you might not regularly see, which is really cool. I mean, can you even spell Bestikas? Neither can I considering it is actually Besiktas.

If you thought the US game on Mun2 was bad, wait till you read this Another US game not available? Really? This situation is way worse though, as it appears that the company that controls the game is making it pay per view, very similar to a championship boxing match. Ugh. Here's to hoping that a couple of my favorite game streaming sites are going to carry it just in case nobody swoops in and buys it (Fox Soccer Channel one time)

Cal Poly lost 3-2 to Stanford Friday night at Stanford. Good effort, especially considering they went down a man. Stanford is a tough place to play and a team that will probably sneak up the ladder this season. Watch out world. Poly is off to a bad start though. Go support them when they play at home next, when Sac State comes to town this Friday night, 7 pm start time and Sunday when they play again at 1 pm against San Jose State.
