Club Matches and Chamo's Return!

After complaining incessantly about my lack of posts, Biggy has managed to get me to finally find some time and write an article. It’s finally the weekend, but it’s a busy weekend for me here at Cal Poly, where my Club team boys have two big games, one at Santa Barbara (inside their stadium!) Saturday at 7:00 PM and then another on Sunday at 10:00 AM against UC Davis on our home turf. Not only are these huge games for the team, but for myself as I get my first start of the season on Sunday against the Aggies. I really recommend coming and seeing either of the games if you are in the area, I think many people would be surprised at the level of college club soccer, especially in these two high profile matches.
Other big news for the weekend is the huge match of the Premier League giants at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. I had an extended debate with an Arsenal fan on the club team today at dinner where we were trying to decide if it was going to be another eight goal thriller or typical drab nil-nil Liverpool v Chelsea draw. My money of course is on the 3-1 result for Chelsea that I predicted, but my friend is right, it’s more than likely going to be a draw.
In other Liverpool related news… Fiorentina fans are in dreamland after their wonderful performance on Tuesday. I was fortunate enough to catch the tail end of that one and Fiorentina put in a masterful display, though seriously I am unsurprised. My initial Champions League post on Liverpool’s draw said that they needed to watch out for the Italians… obviously more Merseysiders need to read this wonderful site. Also, how good is Jovetic!?
I’m only hours away from departure towards Santa Barbara, but the Saturday results are in, and I caught the end of the United game, where yet again United managed to scrounge up something in the final minutes to save a point. Still, dropped points at home is never good, especially for United.
With that, I am off for the weekend, until tomorrow afternoon that is. Come check out the Poly games if you are here in SLO, otherwise, catch the Chelsea v Liverpool match tomorrow. I can’t promise it will be exciting, but you can always hope.
