CPSC Going To Nationals!

Posted by Chamo on November 17, 2009  •  Comments

There were some tense moments as the Cal Poly Men's Soccer Club crashed out of the Regional tournament, despite not losing a game. It only took one day for that tension to disappear, as the call came in that they had received an at-large bid to the Championship division of the NIRSA Tournament down in Phoenix, Arizona.

For the ladies, however, it was a different story. After a memorable first season, the women's Club Team made it to the Finals of their Regional tournament down in San Diego, booking them an automatic bid to the big dance.

Two weeks later, they are both ready and set to launch, bus leaving at 11 PM on November 17th, both clubs will be relieved to be on that giant tub of aluminium down to the warmer southern climate.

The men's squad received an interesting group draw, playing two midwestern teams they know very little about. They first play the University of Illinois at 3 PM on Thursday, followed by a match against the Gophers of the University of Minnesota at 8:15 that same night.

The women's team received much different fortunes, getting placed in a group along with the University of Florida and Michigan State.

Since both teams are very new, the men being in their third full season and the women just completing their first, it is hard to know what to expect, but we can all be certain of one thing, neither team will want to leave with anything less than a National Championship.
